Once it was removed we had to transfer a few things to the new diff. -Breather tube. (which I replace some of the rubber tube while it was easy to get to) -All 3 mounts, including the axle tube that bolts onto the passenger side of the diff. Had to use the trusty Toyota FIPG when transferring...

4.88 Regear Finally was able to get the truck re-geared to 4.88. I chose these over 4.56 because of the 2.7L. I wanted to make sure that I had enough gear to pull the added weight because my truck was never happy when driving up the mountain roads...2nd and 3rd gears were my friend. I wasn't...

White Letters Out! The good thing about having access to a shop with a lift and tire machine is that you can change your tires around just about anytime you want. :wings: I like OUT for sure!

I pulled these out of truck salvage yard here near where I live. $30 a piece! Took em home and sanded them down and gave em a few coats of black wheel paint. They are 16" spare tire wheel from a 2001-ish tundra. Hope this helps!

Roof Rack Continued still.... Put it all together to make sure everything fit I ended up just buying regular mount pods and making my own mount for those as well to keep it close enough to the top piece to keep in line with the light bar. I will show a picture of all the...

Roof Rack continued... Then...I had this genius idea. "I should get some flush mount pods and put one on either side of the bar... Ill tell you now that I scratch this idea too...but I'll entertain you for a second... So far its still a good idea... but then I drilled holes and...

DIY Roof Rack Attempt A few months have passed and I am just now getting around to update this thread. Next up a roof rack... To start off let me say that all of this mess was just so that I could put a light bar on my truck. I really love the light that the LED light bars gives off BUT...

Thanks Summitbeerowl! The lift went on perfectly with absolutely no issues at all. Even the steering extension spacer. Hardest part was just getting the wrenches in the tight places when installing the steering extension. I purchased the gas fill extension but never used it as it was not need...

Head Gasket failure with slapping valves 26k after engine rebuild (IS THIS POSSIBLE?)

I was told that the bolts were replaced at the time of the rebuild as well. Either way I just received my gasket kit and new head bolts today. And I stopped by dads this afternoon to pick up his torque wrench which was just calibrated not long ago;) I'm gonna start putting it all back together...

Head Gasket failure with slapping valves 26k after engine rebuild (IS THIS POSSIBLE?)

I have a 96 tacoma 2.7 which I had the engine rebuilt about 26k miles ago. It has ran like a top ever since then with absolutely NO issues at all...until over Thanksgiving Holiday while driving down the interstate probably around 2200 RPM, I down shifted to go up a hill. (around 3000 rpm) and...

4Crawler 1" Body lift follow up. In preparing for a trip through the GA mountains, I got around to re-torquing the 4Cralwer 1" body lift. While doing this I noticed that I never installed the 1" bed spacers between the cross rail and the frame due to the bed already sagging a bit before...

Thanks! Im glad I made time to build this one as well...It has been really handy to have the extra clearance in the back. Not to mention I like the way it turned out. :sombrero: Plus I learned a ton. You can never go wrong an opportunity to learn something, especially when there are no major...
