Settled Down in the Everglades for Now

Not much off road trekking here, but I'm settled down in Chokoloskee, FL. for the time being. At least til the end of June when my lease is up on my RV spot. I'm on the water and across from my spot are the 10,000 Islands. I'm having a great time kayak fishing all over the area. I'm part...

Optima vs. Odyssey and what model?

Maybe you're thinking of the 2250. That's the really big Odyssey. The 2150 is a group 31 and will easily fit right where my standard battery goes. It's only slightly bigger then the battery the Tundra came with. It's 13" long and the width and height are almost identical...

Looking for a used military or basic trailer

njtaco, at the moment I'm in northern NJ. Is the nj in njtaco for Jersey? If so, what exit? I expect to do some work on it. I want something that'll be able to haul stuff down dirt roads, etc. No hardcore stuff though.

    my first fishing kayak

That's why, when I looked for a name for my business I named it Kayak Fishing Stuff. The tarpons sure were hot. They were a great seller for me too. A few years back, when Charles, at Chokoloskee Charters decided to offer mothership kayak fishing in the Everglades he gave me a call. I...

    Paw Print Trailers

I called them and haven't gotten a response. I did think about the dust and would use containers and tarp. Yes a used military trailer would suit my needs too. I've started looking. I do plan on putting the fridge in the truck. Most likely behind the rear seat.

    my first fishing kayak

The manta 12 is a nice kayak. When LL contacted me for ideas I suggested simply fixing the Tarpons. Essentially that's what the Mantas are. What WS should have done with the Tarpons after they got feedback, but never did.

New to site, not kayak fishing though

Hi guys. I've only been on the site a short time. I found it as I'm in the process of preparing for an extended kayak fishing trip to Baja. By extended I mean at least a few months to several. So I found and joined to get ideas and info on setting up my Tundra for remote area travel in Baja...

    check this out "kayak"

They're nice. It just depends upon where you'll be using it. For protected waters its fine. I do too much fishing where it isn't but I may add one my fleet. I'll be kayak fishing guiding next winter in the everglades and the operation has a bunch of them for eco tours. So I'll get to use...

    Fishing Rods, Reels, Etc.

I do a ton of fishing. I'm basically a full timer now. Where and what will you be fishing for most of the time. There's tons of great reasonably priced gear. ********'s sporting goods has some 9BB Okuma spin reels for only 24.99. You can't go wrong with them. Just need to determine size. Ugly...

    Paw Print Trailers

Is anyone familiar with Paw Print trailers? I'm looking for a trailer to use behind my Tundra for an extended trip to Baja, kayak fishing. I don't plan on any technical rocking or anything. Just the ability to get to good fishing spots on both coasts and spend an extended amount of time in...

Optima vs. Odyssey and what model?

I've got a 2150 that I bought for my travel trailer. I'm planning a long trip to Baja in the future and I'll take the battery out of the trailer and either use it as my only battery in a Tundra or set it up as an auxillary. The battery has performed great.

    Solar for charging auxilary battery

Martyn, thanks. Basically I'm going to get to a spot and possibly not leave for anywhere from a few days to a week or more. Besides the fridge/freezer I'll need to charge batteries for running my fishfinder/gps. I use 4.5 amp gel cells and I get about 14 hours out of one battery. My backups...
