    ITTOG's Overlanding Trips

Talk to Deaver or Alcan and get good progressive HD spring set for the actual weight you’ll be living with. If the trailer is occasional Air bags are OK, but you really want the right springs. Great camper build!

No. They’re stretched tight on the Ovrlnd. There’s no real flapping, partly because there aren’t tall sections like there are on wedge campers and are supported by the hinge mechanism front and rear. We’ve been in very windy conditions up to around 45 or 50 miles an hour in gusts and been...

    Noobie Seeking Advice

For barn doors (as long as you can deal with a pop-up) look at Ovrlnd campers in Flagstaff (https://campovrlnd.com/). Also look at the Ovrlnd owners thread here for info and build out. Jay will build custom and if you really have to have hard sides, I’m betting he would do that too. We love...

I don’t really think so. You can’t go buy some marine exhaust fitting or something like that the way you can with some other other heaters — you just need to use their specific fittings. I think one compelling argument for the Trumas, especially if you can get the Eco at a reasonable price, is...

Ahh… I misread that. Thanks for the correction. Now the gas usage specs for the Eco make more sense

So that’s a screaming deal in many ways if you can get it shipped to the US at a reasonable price. I’d look at the installation manual before ordering — there’s a some specific requirements. A few things to keep in mind: This appears to be a newer variant of the Vario — the Eco. What I have...

Yeah, they’re ridiculous. largely due to the fact that Truma won’t sell directly to consumers in the US out of litigation fears. Consumers can buy them directly in Europe and I understand they’re more reasonable there.. But, they work absolutely great. I have found that repeating clichés such...

I Found it in the Woods

Best I can do is some screen shots. As far as growth, trees up there don’t grow much or fast. You’ll see its a scrawny cedar type tree. Maybe it was moved, but they didn’t think so. Who knows!

Into the Woods I go. For 40 nights.

Good for Sarah for doing this! It's an interesting project. There’s a lot to be said for deeply learning an area, be it your backyard, a favorite destination with too much to explore for a night or two, etc. Kinda like the Slow Travel movement that calls for visiting places for a week or two...

Has anyone removed the control panel from a National Luna DC25 or 40 Powerpack?

I’ve had one of these for 3 years, and it’s been great. For various reasons, I need to relocate it in my camper with the battery separate from the Powerpack. National Luna sells the exact same front control panel as a separate item for remote use, but with mounting flanges. The front control...

Actually, I use a 4x8’ roll of that stuff (though its the 3mm thinner version) on top of the awning when it’s hot in the sun. Really blocks the solar gain and cuts the heat dramatically in the inside of the awning. I just clip it to the edges of the awning with binder clips. Not sure how it...

Here you go. Sorry don’t have a good one in real use, this is right when we got the rig. Short story: The awning is well made and has stood up well. Handles wind and rain fine. Con: can get hot. Would not buy it again due to the heat issue, but it’s manageable for me. For more specifics...

Thanks for that. Thought they were the same. Found the vid, and it is indeed Pinyon Mountain. You can see the well meaning, but bad spotting directing her to go passenger up the embankment causing the initial roll. Or maybe he was trying to warn her, but regardless had no idea how to...

An incident worth talking about. Kinetic Recovery Accident.

I have never agreed more with a post on EP than this one! Excellent layout of the critical issues, especially this statement, which we all should have pasted to the sun visors in our rigs to see every time we're out: "Recovery isn't just the pieces, it's a process, and it's the process that...
