    Vehicle Choices

Personally, I'd go with the square body truck if a bed camper is in your future. Those 90's Chevy trucks typically need a lot of maintenance and tbi was not GM's greatest moment. Also having the solid axle up front on the older truck already saves you time not to mention it's a 3/4 ton. If going...

Budget Used Domestic Cargo Vans for Family Member Build?

You might be hard pressed to find a full size van from the 90 to early 2000s era without a v8. The v6 motors rarely do much better on fuel anyway. The ford transit vans are pretty good. I think they can be had with a small diesel engine as well. But there's nothing budget friendly about new...

1983 Dodge W350 Crew Cab 4x4- Floor Pan Puzzle

Not a dodge guy but any older crew cab truck build gets my attention easy. Looking forward to progress on this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    2002 Ford Excursion New Rig

Looks like a good start. If you do the vinyl floor yourself, make sure it's nice and warm outside so it's more compliant when you put it in. Did one in my suburban when cooler out and it fought me at every end even with adhesive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Beerdy's 2001 Suburban for a family of 6

Another good one that's a bit more expensive is from JD Fab. It's more off-road oriented and doesn't include coil overs but some users recommend a 35" tire at minimum to get the most out of it. I'd say you can safely fit 33" with whatever you do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Beerdy's 2001 Suburban for a family of 6

I recall seeing a coil over conversion from a company for this generation of Chevy trucks. It should work for this as well. It takes some welding and cutting but it beats the handling of those torsion bars by a long shot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Full size truck considerations

We have a 2019 f150 with the ten speed and diesel engine at work. It gets rode hard by multiple people and keeps on going without a hiccup. Just regular maintenance so far. It gets a good 600 miles to a tank as well. Towed a 10,000 pound trailer with it once. It wasn't happy but it did it...

    Vehicle Selection Dilemma

Buy an older used RV and throw a solid axle under the front and a transfer case unless you don't need 4x4. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    1995 Big Red Burban

I've made little bits of progress here and there. Replaced rear shocks, replaced the broken driver's door, interior is all back in. Most of the fluids have been changed, plugs, wires, various sensors. Still a lot of stuff to do but it's legally drivable now. I enjoy wrenching on it as everything...

    1995 Big Red Burban

Made a little more progress on the burb today. Finished pulling out the interior parts that need replaced or cleaned. Managed to get the cargo area vinyl flooring installed for good. Also discovered I have a decent sized rust hole in the driver's floor board. Will be looking into fixes for...

    1995 Big Red Burban

Started removing some of the interior bits today so I can replace that nasty old carpet. Didn't get pictures of everything but the rear cargo carpet and up to the back of the front seats is all pulled out. These things were built tough, I've been having a hard time removing some of panels and...

    1995 Big Red Burban

I may go to the 265's. Looking at e rated tires. Looking through the carfax, the vehicle was regularly maintained up until about 2016 so I imagine the front suspension and steering parts will need some love. New shocks are on my list already anyway. Anyone know of these came with a factory auto...

    1995 Big Red Burban

Picked up a 1995 Suburban 2500 this week from auction for a steal. 7.4 engine, 4l80 trans, 4wd, 4.10 gears, seating for up to 9 people. The previous owner wasn't too kind to the interior so I've spent the last few hours getting that as clean as possible. I'll post up some pics soon. Very...

What can you tell me about the Chevy Avalanche?

Personally, I think they look too much like an oversized Honda ridgeline, although slightly less ugly. Just my opinion. The drivetrain and aftermarket support should be great though considering they're a suburban with a short bed. I'd go for the 2500 with the big block if I had to. Fuel mileage...

    2nd Gen Raptor Thoughts/Comments

I have to second the payload comment. They're great in the desert and for high speed stuff, which is what they're built for but for trail riding and hauling extra gear, any other half ton truck of your choice is probably a better choice and at a lower cost if that matters. Opinions on a 07.5 Chevy Duramax 2500 as an Overland Rig?

Turn it into a overlanding tow rig and pull a dedicated trail rig with you for tackling the tougher trails. Best of both worlds Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    What Half-Ton Truck & Why

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the half tons with a diesel option. Have a f150 at my job with the diesel and ten speed auto. It's a XL model so pretty basic but does everything we ask of it. Fuel mileage is about 20 average in nothing but stop and go traffic. Little over 500 miles to a tank...

    What Half-Ton Truck & Why

One nobody here has mentioned is the new Nissan titan and titan xd, which can be had with a gas engine if diesel isn't your thing and comes standard with a 6.5 foot bed in crew cab form. Xd or not, gets a 5.6 v8 and 9 speed auto. 400 hp and 413torque I believe on the 2020 models. Slightly less...
