    SOLD: 2018 Conqueror UEV490 Platinum-

This is totally an aside for the purpose of the thread, but SOK heated batteries do not have an enable switch - the heater turns on whenever there is an external charger and the battery temperature is below the charging cutoff. (I have heated SOK and Battleborn batteries).

    The Dometic CFX3 Mega Thread

Because they screwed up the engineering of the CFX3's. The earlier CFX's allow this (I have one of each), and it's incredibly useful (e.g., if you have 120V when driving, as I do). I can't believe they haven't fixed this yet. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2020/RCONL-20E040-2225.pdf

SOLD - iKamper Skycamp 2 RTT - Socorro New Mexico

I have an iKamper Skycamp 2 for sale. I am selling it because we have ordered a rugged teardrop trailer instead. We have been very happy with this tent, but have decided to opt for a bit more comfort (we're not getting any younger) with a bit less capability (the tent went up and over Imogene...

An Important Message - Be Wary Of Allowing People to Your House

It seems to me that adjudicating things like this is exactly why small claims courts exist.

*OFF THE MARKET *Price drop-2018 Earth Cruiser EXP turbo diesel, Boulder, Co. $239,000! 10th Anniversary Edition *OFF THE MARKET*

Just curious - were you able to take your EC on the White Rim Trail? I would have thought it would be too big for a couple of parts (Murphy's and Hardscrabble)?

    New "Enhanced MVUM"

I can't tell on the website - do your maps show where dispersed camping is allowed? (In my neck of the woods, this is indicated by dots on the side of the MVUM road network). For me this is the main thing I miss from the existing Gaia MVUM layer.

    New "Enhanced MVUM"

Beautiful work. (I live in New Mexico so not relevant for me yet). I confess that I mostly look at maps electronically these days - is there any chance you could come to an arrangement with the Gaia people? This would be the map I would most like to have available.

    $46,000 Dollar Overland Trailer?

Some people have more money than time, and others vice versa. Fortunately in our society you can trade one for the other as you prefer. Based on the number of camper makers who have gone bust I suspect the real-world margin on those trailers is not as high as people think, but I look forward to...

Need help deciding, Why a Tacoma over a full size truck?

Like anything, it depends on what you find most important when you make your tradeoffs. I have an F150 and am very happy with it for camping (level, rack, bed slide, rooftop tent). These are the downsides I have found for offroad use: Going over (e.g.) Imogene pass in it is fine, but I wouldn't...

    Rigid HVAC Micro DC AirCon

I'd worry that it might not be enough cooling (~10% of a window AC capacity), but if it is it would be awesome. Fantastic form factor and power requirements.

Eighteen months in the making... here's the book: Building a Teardrop Trailer: Plans and Methods for Crafting an Heirloom Camper

Is the trailer presented in the book rugged enough for rougher than "easy" forest service roads, say like Imogene pass in Colorado?

Power to truck bed - criticize my plan

Thank you everyone for your detailed input! I have a couple more 101 type questions. 1. What material would you recommend I mount the engine bay components (relay, circuit breaker) on? I'm a woodworker but don't imagine plywood is a good choice. Metal or anything conductive seems like a bad...

Power to truck bed - criticize my plan

Thanks everyone for the responses! a) I'm spec'ing at 50A out of an abundance of caution, i.e. so I never have to rewire. b) I actually do have a portable 100W solar panel so I'll probably add a low capacity solar charger as a second step c) I ordered a 100Ah AGM battery. If/when it turns out...

    12 V Fridge Quagmire

An advantage of a fridge over a cooler is that you don't have to keep so many cans/bottles of drinks (beer, soda, ...) in the fridge - just replace cold ones with warm ones as you drink them. (Ours is 65l, which seems to us to be a good size for 2-3 people for a few days; ours isn't permanently...

Power to truck bed - criticize my plan

My must-do upgrade before Spring is to get power into the truck bed for charging a camping battery while driving to run a refrigerator and other miscellaneous things (but the fridge is the main thing). (Up until now we've just put the fridge in the back seat of the cab, but we'll have an...

Suggestions on a alternator for charging a single life04 that doesnt break the bank

What DCDC charger do people recommend? Once you get over about 20A they seem to get quite expensive.

    Parking heaters at altitude

My understanding is that some of the cheap Chinese diesel heaters can have their altitude adjusted through their LCD control panel (I think it adjusts the fuel pump cycle, presumably altering the fuel/air mixture).

    The Maze ROF trip 9/19

Awesome trip report. Jealous - I really want to get in there. I am trying to figure out how hard it is to get into the Dollhouse area. I have an F150 mildly improved (level, better shocks etc). The White Rim Trail was absolutely no problem, and Imogene and Engineer passes were a big scrape-y on...

The Official Dometic CFX Fridge Feed!

I use a Goal Zero Lithium 400 with my Dometic CFX. Out of the box there are compatibility problems (the GZ cigarette receptacle is not compatible with Dometic's plug, the Lithium voltage is too low for the Dometic low-voltage cutoff (stops running at about 50% charge)). Both are quite annoying...
