    Ice, Ice, Baby 2024

Blizzard warning on the Dempster and they’ve closed the road South. We have a couple more days planned up here but hoping the road clears by then. The record this year, up to now, was nine days closure also for a blizzard and subsequent clean-up.

Overland Explorer Expedition Cabin on 2020 Ford F350

We are just over 50k kms right now. In summer configuration with all our toys we were a fat cousin over GVWR but the switch to lithium helped out. We’ve learned that we don’t really need all the water this thing can carry but extra fuel can be necessary at times. That lower side entry is...

Overland Explorer Expedition Cabin on 2020 Ford F350

Hey, thanks for waking this thread up! As you know from the other thread, we are currently on the road for an Arctic adventure. I’m still very impressed with the way it drives and handles. How much the Radflo’s contribute I can’t say. For winter travel we are at the lightest since we aren’t...

    Ice, Ice, Baby 2024

Cell service is so much better now than the last time we visited Tuk so I’ll go ahead and load a few more pictures. With no formal camping facilities open at Inuvik, here we are arriving for the night at the airport. Mrs TT just discovered she’d left the step hanging out since our last rest...

Change of plans again. As the farmer’s say, “make miles while the sun shines”, or something like that…

    Ice, Ice, Baby 2024

Spent the first night after Dawson in Tombstone Territorial Park, intending to stay next at Eagle Plains. On arrival, the road conditions were so good we just went for it and “poof” we are at Inuvik! A day off now and Tuk next… Dawson City on a sleepy Saturday morning but we managed to find...

    Ice, Ice, Baby 2024

Well, the sanity of Leafs fans has always been questionable 🥴 Now at Dawson City and the truck is no longer clean, 6C and slush. So warm this season in fact they never established an ice bridge across to West Dawson. Good news is that all roads north are open! Edit #2: also realized that...

    Ice, Ice, Baby 2024

Checking in from Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, on a bright sunny day that reached 5C. The roads have been dry so our rig remains clean! As expected most public and private campgrounds are still closed but our favourite boondocking spot so far was an old airstrip. We were surprised to find the...

Go Go Godzilla Swap from 6.0

Looking forward to reading your in-depth post. Just passed 30k miles with our Godzilla-powered rig and the best compliment I can give is that it’s completely forgettable! And I mean that in a good way ;-)

CPT (Composite Panel Technologies) Slide In Camper Shell Build, AKA "Yes, Dear, I think this will definitely be my last one...."

Oops, sorry I don’t mean to hijack your build thread. I’ll send a pm when we get back from this trip.

CPT (Composite Panel Technologies) Slide In Camper Shell Build, AKA "Yes, Dear, I think this will definitely be my last one...."

Great news! Will they land or airdrop? I ask because we will have to figure out an airdrop resupply later this summer and I could use any tips on packaging. We’re leaving for Aklavik next week…

    Heating a small trailer

FWIW I tested a similar Martin catalytic propane heater by running it for 15 minutes in the closed bathroom (no fan running either). There was zero CO produced according to my monitor, even during startup. It did get pretty toasty in there though.

    Ice, Ice, Baby 2024

Just to wrap up the story of Paradise Valley; on our way back to camp we were passed by three skiers also heading out. I asked where they'd been and "Temple" was the hurried reply. With that previous episode still in my thoughts, I quipped back something like, "Glad you made it out OK". The...

    Ice, Ice, Baby 2024

Relocated from Banff to Lake Louise for a couple of nights; such a pleasure in winter without the crowds and parking bans. On the way down we stopped at Johnston Canyon to visit the Ink Pots, probably 30+ years since we were last there with the kids. The weather continued clear and cold so...

Indeed, this endeavour is many orders of magnitude beyond a mere expedition. More at the level of NASA. I shudder to think what the truck recovery alone cost.

Not sure if this has already been posted elsewhere on EP but this is a YouTube video of the Transglobal Car Expedition currently on it’s way to Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. Transglobal Car Expedition One thing missing is a discussion of the cost and who is financing this endeavour. Also there is...
