2002 montero limited rear end rumble/vibration over 50mph

I've seen it discussed in a forum before and I cant find the thread that talked about it in detail, but the forum link I sent you in my previous post, one member mentions that same thread mentioning aftermarket axles not doing well with excessive angle and causing vibrations since aftermarket...

2002 montero limited rear end rumble/vibration over 50mph

I've been away from the forum for a couple months but came back and saw this thread and wanted to chime in. I currently have this issue in my gen 3 as you described, but for the front axle. I noticed this happened to me as soon as I switched to aftermarket axles, they were clicking while...

2006 Mitsubishi Montero Gen III Limited

No, they're brand new. I ditched the OEM axles because they were clicking. Slapped the new ones on and now there's a vibration. This thread talks about it. https://mitsubishiforum.com/forum/mitsubishi-montero-montero-sport-14/montero-shudder-vibration-4hi-only-54140/page3/ OP solves his issue...

    sheep bridge Arizona day trip

Ah, I see. In my head I thought I had to be as prepared as most decked out rigs to hit these trails, though now I'm running SL rated tires so I'm not as confident. I'll choose my lines carefully then. I don't have a rooftop tent but camping by the river sound like a blast. I'm better prepared...

    sheep bridge Arizona day trip

Longer than I expected, thats a full day lol would you highly suggest camping? How would you rate the difficulty of the terrain on a scale 1 - 10? I'm replacing my LT BFG KO2's with SL Toyo Open Country AT3's and idk how these will hold up to more rugged terrain than I'm used to off-roading on...

    sheep bridge Arizona day trip

Looks like a fun trail, how long did it take from beginning to end? Let me know next time you're going.

    sheep bridge Arizona day trip

That's cool man, I'll try next time, I'll be needing new front axles. They are clicking/ popping at full lock and when the suspension articulates over rough terrain. I wouldn't say it's stiff but generously over firm. I tolerate it since I don't feel like going over the suspension again. I will...

    sheep bridge Arizona day trip

Sounds like fun. I went to Bulldog Canyon solo over the weekend and it was pretty easy, the Monte handled everything in 4Hi with ease. It got rough about a 1/4 way thru the trail going toward north gate, it gets really rocky so I was pretty much coasting at 10-15mph. I have light duty OME EMU...

First Montero: 2002 Gen 3 XLS

Gotcha. For me, I have nobody to roll with so when going solo, I wanna make sure I'm well prepared. Otherwise I would've tried it out stock. The original o2 should resolve the issue. Yup. This is what helped me identify the vacuum leak on the butterfly seal on mine.

First Montero: 2002 Gen 3 XLS

Congrats on the the Montero and welcome. You wasted no time hitting the trails lol I got my Montero 2 months ago and still haven't gone for fear of being unprepared. I think you might've encouraged me to go this weekend. And I see you went on street tires as well, so I really have no excuse...

    Post your Mitsubishi Pajero Pics

It's a 2006 with 285/75/16 16x8 - 12 offset edit: I forgot to mention I had to trim the inner fenders in the front toward the bumper and bend back the tabs on the running board, they rub on full lock. I think if you remove them then it won't rub.

Dang, I wish I could go but I'm still not as prepared as I'd like to be for a trip like this. Maybe in another month or so.

New Owner of a Gen III Montero

I love the color! It's one of the main factors that drew me to buying this one. 3.6k round trip? Where did you end up going? I'm nervous in any car to trek that long and far. As for the maintenance, the cylinder heads were rebuilt by the previous owner along with timing belt and water pump. I...

New Owner of a Gen III Montero

With the car almost being worthy of hitting the trails, I finally decided to lift it with new springs and struts. I decided on OME Emu 1.5" lift medium duty springs w/ KYB's instead of Bilsteins. I chose KYB not only for budget but also I didn't want the ride being too stiff, also this Rig will...

New Owner of a Gen III Montero

Dismounted the front bumper, put new fog lights in, band-aid the cracks in the bumper, painted the grille, and mounted the driving lights. I had to use a Dremmel on the grille because of how big the base of the mounts on the aux lights were. A pre-facelift grille would've worked better since...
