Tired of all the "crap" RTT's. So I made my own. - TERRAPOD!

What is CFW? j/k ? I need to look into it and see when it is. I assume January 2021. This will put me at the mercy of my son’s basketball schedule. I will check it out. Smitty

Anything compete with the Superlite for weight and cost..?

I take the blame for derailing the thread. I immediately thought low profile hard shells was the topic but once I reread the original post and topic, I added content that applied. As far as weight and price it appears the most likely competitors are Smittybuilt and Front Runner. The GFC is...

Anything compete with the Superlite for weight and cost..?

Doesn’t matter. As pointed out to me by another poster, price AND weight was the question. Nothing else.

Anything compete with the Superlite for weight and cost..?

Actually I found a much better deal than the GFC per the OP’s parameters. The Frontrunner is only 93lbs and much cheaper at $1099!

Anything compete with the Superlite for weight and cost..?

So the Terrapod isn’t a good answer to the OP. I found one that is. The Smittybuilt is only 73% of the price of the new GFC and is only 46.25% heavier. Is saving 37 pounds worth and extra $428?

Anything compete with the Superlite for weight and cost..?

Clearly it was a rhetorical question. Sorry I didn’t get the memo, lol.

Anything compete with the Superlite for weight and cost..?

I certainly need no justification for my purchase as there still isn’t anything like the Terrapod out there. But at the Terrapod price point and weight, I was simply answering the question of the OP. I am not an owner of the Terrapod company, have zero equity in the company and get nothing...

Anything compete with the Superlite for weight and cost..?

I have a year under my belt testing the Terrapod that Phil mentioned and I can't see how anything will beat it for my needs. I just don't see this new offering being anywhere near as durable as the Terrapod and the Terrapod sits less than six inches off my roof line. We tested multiple...

    Roofnest Falcon RTT

I love my Terrapod Prototype. The production model looks even better. Mine is less than 6" off my roof line when closed and weighs about 112lbs. Low profile AND light weight!!! I believe the production model will be even lighter.

    Roofnest Falcon versus GFC RTT

I am very excited about starting the testing of the third prototype Terrapod RTTx at Overland Expo East this week. I have had it mounted since August but it has been way to hot for camping here in the Atlanta area. It is actually less than 6'' off the roof line of my 80 and weighs in at 112lbs.

80 Series Front Swaybar disconnects, do they help?

I have had mine for a few years. Love them! Super easy to install and use they definitely make a big difference off road. Well for me it made a big difference ON ROAD...since I had removed my sway bar for years. Once this product came out, I was able to put it back on and I feel much safer...

Peer Vote #2, COOPER DISCOVERER Round 2 Story Submissions

I wonder if he got a bad batch or something. I know that the original STT had a great reputation in the Land Cruiser world. They only complaint that I heard was they wore a little faster than some of the other tires in their class. I think the rubber compound was a tad softer which gave great...
