The 2015 Chevy Colorado build and price is up. Anyone excited? Anyone ordered?

While I am very excited about the release of this truck, I still can't figure out why Chevy went with the 3.6L motor instead of the current 4.3L that is in the Silverado. The 3.6L is rated at 305HP/269TQ whereas the 4.3L is rated at 285HP/305TQ. Comparing the dyno graphs between the two...

Buy new F350 or restore older 7.3?

^ That's a decent plan as long as he doesn't have emissions testing in his state. The 7.3 is a great truck and I don't think the OP would regret the decision to pick a nice one up and "restore" it to whatever condition he so desires. I personally don't trust the new Ford 6.7L diesels as they...

New Guy, '97 12 valve, Many, Many Adventures To Go!

Definitely love what you have done with the truck so far. I am really interested to see how your camper turns out. Looks like it will be well thought out. I like the "Flip Pac" style top idea. You might have already checked into it, but maybe someone like CVT could make you a top for it?

    Well....I took the plunge!!

I think my idea of an "ultimate super duty" would be Gary and Monika Wescott's Turtle V. I really like everything they accomplished with it. If you are looking for inspiration, that's where I would start.

    Well....I took the plunge!!

I'm not really sure what to say. You already have the best truck made with the highest end components available on it. Not sure where you can go from there, especially with a Ford.

New RAM half-ton EcoDiesel gets 28mpg?..

I think that this combo will turn out to be a pretty darn good all around truck once people get used to it. The Eco Diesel is not going to feel powerful compared to those almost 400hp gas motors that are on the market. It does however have more power than the 1st gen 5.9 Cummins had, so it...

    2014 Ram Powerwagon

I'm kinda disappointed that they went back to 4.10 gears with it. For anyone wanting to run larger tires (35" or 37") it will almost necessitate a gear swap. The nice thing about having a double overdrive transmission is that you can run a little more gear without winding out on the highway...

    2015 Ford F150

If they can make it to market with a truck that looks like that Atlas concept, then it will be sweet! I think that the F150 has fallen behind in styling over the last couple years and this could be a big help. Also very interested to see if the aluminum body panels make it to the production...

    1st Gen Cummins Build

Looks good! I like your idea with the led tail lights instead of the factory ones. Good use of what you have available to you.

Need input on suburban purchase and suspension modifications!!

^I would strongly consider that first! Also I think it would benefit you to check out all the Sub builds in this thread: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/110884-Collection-of-Build-Threads. If you haven't already checked it out it might give you some ideas on suspension height...

    2009-2013 Suburban Mods????

For a 1500 my recommendation would be this: get a set of CST upper control arms that run ball joints (necessary for correcting geometry and travel), some adjustable height Bilstein 5100 front shocks (they run a threaded collar on the body to adjust spring height), a 1" coil spacer for the rear...

2007 Dodge Cummins "Power Wagon" Camper

Since you guys are on the subject............it got me thinking (which is dangerous). How about a heat formed thin lexan cover for the undercarriage that can be clipped on during the winter months to simplify cleaning and minimize snow/salt intrusion into all the little nooks and crannies. I'm...

BFG 255x80xR17 KM2 and BFG customer service

Bummer that you will have to wait for them to become available again. Not too many choices in that tire size. I have always had good luck with BFG and it sounds like their customer service is treating you well. On a side note there is a saying in Baja for those who race: "A hole in the tread...

Photos of mid-sized vehicles - Post Here

Lots of people like Xterra's, they are just hanging out in the Nissan/import section. This is the domestic area and that's probably why you haven't seen any in this thread. Yours does look very nice though.

12v Cummins vs. 7.3 Power Stroke?

ChuckB, If you and your wife are both 5'1" then it wont be an issue. Otherwise you will probably want a much larger rear seat.

12v Cummins vs. 7.3 Power Stroke?

Definitely don't rule out the 24v trucks. My family's business has had an 02 Dodge 3/4ton with the HO Cummins and NV5600 since new. It has been worked harder than any truck I have ever seen. Overloaded, abused off road, heavy towing, forklifts run into it, you name it. Still the best driving...

Running 2008+ Diesel on Low Sulfur

Dags, Unfortunately getting an 08 Ford diesel to both pass emissions testing and run on foreign diesel fuel is going to require you to take equipment on and off every time you need to smog it. It sounds like you may be planning a trip down south which might be a one time deal? If so then it...

    new Chevy Colorado

You have to figure that from a manufacturer's standpoint, offering a manual transmission doesn't make any sense. Literally 95% of drivers cannot even operate one and don't want to learn. The truck does look promising. I hope that it has decent sized wheel wells so that you can run bigger...

    Bushwacker SEMA Ford

Bell Off Road, Could you please post more pics of the bumpers on that truck? They look amazing and I would like to know if you guys manufacture them or if they are someone else's product. Thanks.
