    Baja XL 2023?

You would be fine. While there is an end point every day, there isn't necessarily a required route to get there. The road book gives options to avoid anything difficult for the adventure category. In 2019 there were at least 3 Crown Vics, 2 Volvo wagons and we met one couple doing it a rental...

    Baja XL 2023?

I did the race category in 2019 and will be in the adventure next year, not because it wasn't fun - it was a total blast - but made for some longer days trying to chase as many points as possible and having done it once, decided to take it a little easier this time around. As for...

Baja XL 2021... Anyone else signed up?

I think you have to enter the Racing category to take part in the navigation competition as that is the only way you get the GPS tracker for your vehicle that is used to verify most check points. You are right that you can do as little or as much of each day as you want as you will always know...

    2019 Baja XL... who's in?

I was in an Xterra but found there were mostly plenty of gas stations along the route. The middle section of Baja is a little short on gas stations although you can buy from a roadside "vendor" in places like Catavina. I estimated a range of about 225 miles for my truck, worst case off road...

    2019 Baja XL... who's in?

Never had any problems with the gas or heard of anyone else having problems on the rally.

    2019 Baja XL... who's in?

I would say it cost us about $2k over and above the entry fee. This includes hotels / camping at the end of each stage (hotels were optional, plenty of teams free camped close by and camping fees were less than $10 if required) gas (we did 2900 miles in 10 days), food, tolls, etc. No issues...

    2019 Baja XL... who's in?

I ran in the GPS "race" class as a complete rookie, never having done anything like this before. Really didn't do too much to prepare other than making sure my Xterra was ready to go (good look over, fresh fluids, new all terrain tires). Basically, I had a 4x4 so added camping stuff (we camped...

    2019 Baja XL... who's in?

We made it all the way and had a blast. It was great to see the rally spirit with everyone helping each other - we were on the receiving end the day we got 2 flats in less than 5km. 12th overall in the GPS race category is not bad for rookies!

    2019 Baja XL Rally

I entered the 2019 Baja XL rally in my Xterra. We were the only Nissan (there were more Volvos!) in about 100 entries. After 10 days and 2892 miles, we finished 12th in the GPS race category. Stunning scenery and amazing people made this and incredible event. The Xterra held up well - lost a...

    2019 Baja XL... who's in?

The free "basic map" option will be available for download 11/15 and the Orux maps software is also free from Google Play. I plan on playing with that to see how it looks. I have purchased the delux option from Bamako and already had the Baja Almanac. Debating on taking an iPad / Gaia as plan B.
