    Odyssey jeep trailer

Looks great. I comment on the axle - now almost 10 years later (and how old was it when you started?) - the axle still in use as-is . My Suby-trailer axle is now like 25 years of hard use and still rolling around with whatever I load (overload) onto it, and it was an early-80's Subaru 2WD...

    Steerable Trail Trailer

Where you at with it now? I was pretty close to doing an IFS trailer at one time - I'd seen one built from a American V8 car once - coil springs, no steering but it looked like it carried a pretty heavy load very smoothly.

    Independent suspension, looks good...

Scrolling back to old threads - no ubolts to the leaves? It took me awhile to see you have a combo indendent/leaf spring/airshock set up - i was having a hard time with that much lay-back if the shocks were the sole "air spring" but as a supplement to the leaf springs - sure. It's been awhile -...

    Trailer suspension options?

I can see that with specific rocks it could be a bummer - but you should be able to drive accordingly and put your tire on it - or it would end up right down the middle and not hit the usual straight axle either...... But a wedge of steel as a slider might not be a bad idea of you are a serious...

    Small Off Road Trailer

Well - they are great to experiment with :D But a small nimble zuk has it's advantages too. I built mine till it had to ride on a trailer to get places - too far. Scaling back, building another one with the turbo-diesel and maybe 35's maybe 31's again. Nice trailer - you could easily keep it a...

    homebuilt Subaru IRS trailer

Photobucket will let you copy the address and paste into your browser - I think. This trailer is still working hard - I'll be taking it hunting caribou this weekend, hauling my ATV on it then hauling the trailer with the ATV off-road. Not bad for 35 year old bearings/axle/springs on a 25 year...

    homebuilt Subaru IRS trailer

Ha! I just realized I never posted my ooooolllllddd video of hauling the trailer off-road to rescue my broken 3-wheeler here - it's a kick...

    homebuilt Subaru IRS trailer

Found some old picture from about 20 to 22 years ago - I built that box with free scrap wood from shipping containers - the frame was free too :D I found them yesterday so I'm calling it Throwback Thursday....

    Quadrotrac

Subscribed. Starting over is ok. I'm glad you didn't continue put a huge amount of effort in only to find it's too heavy. It's hard to keep putting time in like you do. You remind me of Grant Stockley (Logjam on Pirate) and his amazing home-built stuff :D.

    Project Mini Hägglund

:D I was thinking EVERYTHING you build seems to be machined from blocks of steel - you are VERY good at this, but it's like a when your only tool is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a nail.... I tend to see a lot of stuff built up from laser-cut sheet steel welded together - but...

HF trailer frame + subaru IRS

There is a steel torsion bar thru the center of the axle - you can't cut it and still have it function - it's not like the rubber-sprung trailer axles. He's also using a 4wd axle vs a 2wd axle - this means not using a traditional spindle/cone bearing arrangement for the wheel bearings, more of...

HF trailer frame + subaru IRS

That's a side view and sort of mini top view . The black tube part would be towable by itself. Does the terrible drawing make sense ?

HF trailer frame + subaru IRS

So I'm imagining a piece of expensive 2" ID tube down the middle - your 2" OD tube fits inside, and can run to the back of the trailer or be pulled most of the way out - I think 20" or so of overlap would be enough - the HF frame is supported by the two 2" OD tubes (this is all square) that the...

HF trailer frame + subaru IRS

Ok - I am, of course, a big fan of the Suby suspension. Lots of travel, sturdy, has shock mounts, easy to get parts, mine is heading towards 20 years of HARD use and I STILL haven't swapped out those old bearings, so they are like 32 years. Harbor Freight trailer - not so much in love with it...

    Project Mini Hägglund

Are you tracking your weight? A few pounds(or kilos :D) here, a few there and suddenly your rigs weighs hundreds of pounds more than you thought. In a small snow vehicle, this starts to really matter.
