OBS Fullsize Blazer Roof Top Tent Question

I yanked an extra set of stock rails from a wrecked truck to double the capacity of the rack on my 96 Suburban. I used to haul lumber up there, way heavier than a RTT. It’s cheap and easy!

    2003 Suburban ABS delete

So the big reason to kill the ABS on these is that many of the modules fail and replacements are NLA. I usually just yank the fuse and pull the cluster and mush the bulb with pliers (it’s soldered in) so I don’t have to look at the light. In some extreme cases, stabilitrak equipped vehicles...

Legroom in a Chevy van for the driver?

I don’t think you’d have to fabricate anything. Just unbolt the seat, drill a few holes, and move it back however far you want. The floor is literally flat all the way to the back doors…

    91 GMC Suburban build

I see they ditched the factory AC. Vintage Air might keep you cool in there between an enclosed trailer and the Vegas Coliseum floor on a cool Vegas October morning for SEMA but you’ll be rolling down the windows for relief on a real summer day once the roof gets hot… You need the factory...

Legroom in a Chevy van for the driver?

A swivel raises the seat a few inches. The floor is totally flat, it would be stupid simple to move the base back a few inches if needed. I’m 5’9” and I find my ‘98 2500 Express to be very comfortable for long distance driving. It would probably be my only vehicle if I didn’t need a 3/4 ton...

    GMT800 Suburban 1500 wheel/tire clearances

Also bear in mind that cranking the bars reduces down travel (sometimes to zero with keys). This is hard on ball joints and everything else in the front end. It also diminishes ride quality and can make driving (especially evasive maneuvers) “interesting.”

Finding a selectable rear axle locker (1996 E350 dually)

Ford has offered selectable lockers in the Super Duty line for some time now. The option isn’t available on DRW trucks. I think there’s a reason for that. The available traction of a dual rear wheel assembly increases the likelihood of overloading the differential. I know there are probably...

    84 K20 6.2 Diesel

Well the victory was short lived. The original TV cable was frayed through and hanging on by a thread so I replaced it when the transmission was rebuilt. Shortly thereafter it went to leaking profusely to the point where it wasn’t even driveable. I don’t know where the first replacement cable...

    Larry's 1978 K10

Detroit Speed makes a nice wiper upgrade for 73-83 trucks. Unfortunately my Suburban is a 1984 so major surgery would be required to retrofit the older dash sheet metal, bezel, and steering column to make it not look hacked…

    84 K20 6.2 Diesel

That’s true but it’s so much easier to cut straight lines! This truck has only been painted once but they skimmed the whole thing with bondo, even where it’s straight. I’m just cutting out rust, welding in patches, and fairing it in with filler. It’s never going to be a show rig…

    84 K20 6.2 Diesel

I also tossed on a Harbor Freight 12k winch that I had in a box in the garage. The old Warn 8k is still down from when I stole the control box and motor for the 12k on my Excursion project a few years ago.

    84 K20 6.2 Diesel

Well the Suburban is back on the road as my daily driver again. I took the transmission to a friend of mine (I pulled it out over a year ago) and had it rebuilt. Other than that I had to replace the batteries and repair a few wires to the tail lights that were rat chewed. Just in time for...

Suburban mild lift parts? (GMT800 '00-06)

There's an outfit that sells on ebay, XRF I think. They make HD tie rod assemblies for the border patrol tahoes. They work great. Once you have the keys cranked or aftermarket keys, the Cognito upper control arms restore your ball joint angle and give you back some droop travel.

Seeking input on newer Ford F350's with the 6.2L or 7.3L Gas engines.

I had a work truck SRW 6.2 4x4 with a service body. I loved it but then the company card paid the fuel bill.

AEV bumpers fo Ram 1500 discontinued?

AEV makes their money selling complete conversions to new car dealers. Their business model doesn't support any platform not in current production. 99% of the guys that buy a $80,000+ Prospector are gonna either move on or buy another before it's worn out...
