    Unimog demand

Not exactly true. Some Mogs? Sure... Others of newer vintage (such as Charlie')? No problem to travel at a safe speed on US highways and even interstates believe it or not. Our U1300L with the overdrive, reasonable axle ratio, and 395s will cruise at 115 kph (70 mph) or even higher if we...

    Unimog demand

There are many Unimog campers globally based on a 3250mm chassis, ours being one of them. This wheelbase works out to most habitats being ~3.7m long or thereabouts. While maybe not ideal for long term global travel or a larger family, a smaller camper is perfect for the two of us and shorter...

    Quality Adjustable Height Table Post?

Springfield Marine (and others) make 3-stage air assisted adjustable table (and chair) pedestals. Depending on your height requirements, these may work for you if they also fit your budget.

Max possible pressure for a combined coolant circuit would be equal to the pressure rating if the radiator cap, no? Our trucks cap is rated at 1.7 bar, not exactly high pressure.

    Big custom camper sightings

Probably wasn't us... On Wed we were headed from Raton, to Las Vegas, and ultimately to Villanueva State Park where we stayed that evening.

    Big custom camper sightings

Spotted a blue Unimog camper on Highway 68 between Taos and Santa Fe heading South at around 2:15 PM on 11/24. Sorry, no pics... we were coming head on with our U1300L camper. Turned around hoping they turned back, but didn't find them in 2-3 miles of searching. We ended up camping just North...

Unicorn on the Ocean - 1120AF Coming to Canada

We have a secondary alternator installed on our truck that is driven by dual belts. This is in addition to our solar array and on board generator. Mounting the alternator is indeed a challenge. Happy to share any info as requested.

Unicorn on the Ocean - 1120AF Coming to Canada

Intended to support your position, but thought electrical systems are best hashed out in a different sub-forum here on ExPo. Let's move on... and stay focused on supporting the OP.

Unicorn on the Ocean - 1120AF Coming to Canada

OT, but sound advice. Save complexity and cost and keep the electrical sub-system native voltage until you have to step down for smaller loads where needed. Our domestic side follows the same design principle. Works very well and quite efficient.

    Size question

All the input by others has been spot on as far as I am concerned. However, I will point out that not all trucks have to be around or above the 20k (lbs) mark in terms of weight. Our U1300L camper is right at 15k as we pay special attention to packing the truck with what we think we need for one...

Pretty Ugly... 1835, The Build Begins

Good point regarding the BMS. Those details would have to be investigated more thoroughly. One of the added complexities with this battery chemistry, whereas lead acid is much more straightforward. Manual switches with 600 A continuous are easy to source. That comes to around 28 kW which I...

Pretty Ugly... 1835, The Build Begins

I think you might even be able to wire in manual battery switches which would allow you to change your configuration on the fly.

Pretty Ugly... 1835, The Build Begins

A 24V house system seems like the most obvious choice. If you are stranded in the middle of Mongolia and needing to weld something, disconnect all other loads, get out your spare connect cable you have in your welding kit, series connect the banks together, and do your welding. When done...

2200 watts of solar on the roof?

16 degrees is a bit chilly, no? Even at 18 degrees I would say working very well.

    Ordering Outbound Windows

Yes, I found them super helpful and friendly when I met them at the 2019 Abenteur & Allrad show. Very nice to talk to and took time to chat even though I was not committing to buy at the show. Seems like a very good company to work with and the product is top notch. Just wish they had a...

    Ordering Outbound Windows

I would love to join in on the order, but not ready yet for new windows. It is on the list, but I need to get many other things completed first. Thanks for the offer. Did you order / ship them direct from Outbound? Any idea on shipping costs and how many window / door / hatch units did you...

    Mercedes 1222A.. The beginning!

Just curious, why the need for double doors? We only have one sliding door (like a "pocket" door) that slides open and shut for the habitat. It can be open or closed while camping or while we are on the road. I haven't found a need for a second door, maybe you have a good idea? We do not have a...

    Mercedes 1222A.. The beginning!

What kind of cab to camper seal are you planning to use? Have you started to plan out a cab to camper door with locking mechanism, etc?
