Day 10 continues...

After setting up camp in North Campground, we did the visitor center, and rode the shuttle to the River Walk hike. We wanted to hike the narrows, but it was closed due to high water levels. Next time!

Day 12

522060

Nice view off Mesa Verde. Going to see the cliff dwellings.

522061

Cliff Palace. Even more impressive that I remember from being here almost 40 years ago.

522062

A look inside Sun Temple

522063

522064

The museum and visitor center at Mesa Verde were our favorite of the trip. Wonderful exhibits and very informative.

522065

522066

I'm a bow hunter so I took pictures of arrows and points

522067

After leaving Mesa Verde we were headed to my aunts cabin in Marble for a couple nights before heading home. And we saw some snow.

522068

A quick stop in Telluride on the way. I must get back here when the snow is gone to run Black Bear Pass.

Day 13...

Our last day before we start the long horrible drive back to Mississippi.

522072

Aspens in the back yard of the cabin

522073

We knew the road was not open all the way to Crystal Mill, but we decided to see how far it was open.522074

We made it past Lizard Lake

522075

My girls enjoying Colorado!
Not much past here we came to an avalanche almost blocking the entire valley. So we turned around and had lunch at Slow Groovin BBQ in Marble. Then took a drive to Aspen so the wife could see it.

522076

The side of the road between Marble and Carbondale.

After aspen it was back to the cabin for our last night in Colorado. And vacation is over. Its a horrible feeling when such an epic trip comes to an end. We all had a fantastic time. We saw enough at all of our stops to not feel rushed but left enough for a return trip to any or all of them. We clocked 4977.0 miles, 9 states, 7 National Parks, 1 National Monument visited, and 1 National Monument driven through, and I don't know how many National Forests, and we counted 41 different state license plates, 4 Canadian Provinces, and a Sonora Mexico plate. I guess its time to start planning next years trip. Utah again? Colorado for 2 weeks? Yellowstone, Tetons, and Glacier? Or west coast? Gonna be a tough decision...

What a great trip. Thanks for all the pictures. Zion is wonderful. That's a very nice Jeep. It looks like it did the job you built it for.
