I was wondering if you guy's with 255/85's or similar (tall skinny) tires on fullsize rigs could do me a favor and post up some pics and give some opinions? I've searched around, but can only seem to come up with random pics here and there.

I'm about to order some 2.5" springs for the front of my 92 Dodge and I'm having a hard time deciding if 255's are going to be large enough :snorkel: Thanks a bunch!

Though 255's are en vogue here for mid-size and smaller trucks (I have them myself), 285 look much more proportional on the big rigs. 285's even fit well on stock rims.

I've not seen 255's on a full-size yet except for a dually. It would be an interesting look on a single rear wheel vehicle.

Back in the '90s most Ford trucks came from the factory with 255/85's from what I understand.

255/85 to small IMO

I ran 285/75 16 on stock wheels on my F250.

Actually most tire companies say 285s are okay to mount on 7.5" or wider (up to 9" I believe) wheels. Many stock full size wheels are 7" or narrower. Though I have put 285s on 7" wheels I don't care for the fit.

on that 92 dodge of yours with a 2.5" lift 35x12.5 (315/75) would fit great. A 33" tall tire (255/85 R16 is 33.1") would look a little bit small but not out of proportion.

i had 305/70 on 16x6 factory steelies w/2.5 springs and it looked just about right. the wheels were a little narrow, but the price was right. i think 255/85 would look to skinny on that body style.

i have 255/85's on my 89 4runner now and they look proportional to that size vehicle.

i guess i'm trying to say is that i like the tire size but not on that particular vehicle. my $.02

Front 2.5” lift via Torsion bar keys, rear spring packs had a few additional springs added from its working days as a flat bed weed spray tanker truck.

So, far I have been very happy with these. In fact, I like them better than the 285’s on my other Silverado.

This is my 97' F350. The tires are Toyo M55's 255x85x16 on factory Alcoas. I have 25K on the tires and they are everything I could have wanted in a tire that sees a little of everything. Wear is outstanding, the one downside if they do make noise on the highway but as it is a diesel that is really a moot point. I like them so much that I have purchased another set.
The fit as far as looks go is perfect. I do not have a lift so they dont make the truck look odd.

Here is my 1989 Dodge W250 Cummins 5.9 4x4. it has the bone stock suspension, and 255/85/16 BF Goodrich MK 2 mud terrains on Arerican Racing Outlaw I aluminum rims. The tires do not rub at all. :)

16 Years on ExPo. Whoa!!
Does anyone have a photo of a Super Duty with the 255's?

My friend Steve is considering putting some on his 2004 Super Duty and is looking for photos and info on fitment issues.

Here is a photo of my Super Duty with 285 75 R 16s. Even though I like tall skinnies a lot I enjoy this size a lot on mine despite the slight loss of fuel mileage. I feel the tires just barely fit in well on full rotation. I have a lift of about 1" - 1.5" or so...

thanks,
Andre

Here's my '94 Dodge, no lift, with 255/85 Toyo M55's on it. For the cost and load on this truck I wish I would have gone to Rickson 19.5's. I have 10,000 miles on these and the rears wore quite a bit. I should have rotated at 5,000 miles (approximately where this pic was taken at Deadhorse)

and this for a comparison shot.

I had Maxxis 285/75 Buckshot mudders on it previously and found those to be to soft of tire. - Brad
