There are so many great places like these in the local mountains that are in danger of destruction both from lowlifes as well as from bureaucrats. A lot of the sites are interrelated such as these tunnels and the Nike missile batteries that were all over the Southland. Well worth getting out now and seeing them!

Now you have to go back and finish the trail with more pics and of the missile sites. Wish we had the internet when I lived there 25 years ago.

Theoretically the "internet" has been around since the 60's...so you could have posted your adventures.
The www as we now know it is a bit younger...1992...so you missed that by 2 yrs...

I've never been a computer geek, so had to wait until user friendly Windows, internet and affordable computers around 1995. Websites with Forums for what activities I was interested in is when the world became my oyster even though I'd been flying all over it for 12 years by then. I've been to some awesome places and done awesome things thanks to others posting.

This timeline does not match well with the theory that he could have accessed ARPAnet  http://www.livescience.com/20727-internet-history.html

You have lots of great places to see in Washington! Check out my post on Blewett Pass here: http://suntothenorth.blogspot.com/2012/10/exploring-blewett-pass.html

You also need to go out to Whidbey Island to Fort Casey to see the big 10 inch guns https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Casey

I was already living here when the web exploded, it's all the stuff in California that I didn't know about when I lived there is what I missed.
http://ghosttowns.com/ has been my go to site when planning trips in WA, OR, ID, CA, UT, AZ for years now.

like this one.. B+W seems appropriate for the scene.. whenever I see old cars/rigs like this I wish I could go back and see the day the original owner took delivery on it when new, observe the realization of a dream or starting a plan.. and wonder if they know what will one day become of it..
