Audi allroad RTT test

We've been using my 2003 allroad to "store" the RTT that we use on my wife's Jeep Wrangler (seen in the last pic). We usually use the allroad for road trips and such but I had a chance to do a mini trip with the tent on top. I had an Ultimate Frisbee tournament over the Memorial weekend and decided to see how it fared. I must say that it worked out great. I could barely tell that it was up there driving (~70mph or so) with very little body roll. The air suspension probably helped a little with that. I only did about 100ft on the grass but we may take this on some longer forest service road camping trips in the future where the Jeep isn't really needed. We did use the Audi on the most southern part of the WABDR a few years ago and it did great so maybe we'll give that a go again. Anyway, here's the pics.

Cool, I dig it! I had a 2016 allroad and thought about doing the same but ended up selling the rig. Super capable w/air suspension too. Maybe you should throw some all-terrains on it like the Subaru dudes.

As a former allroad owner... I wish you the best of luck. I'm sure you are aware of Quattroworld's forums. The forums were a huge resource during my ownership experience (plus a Vag-Com cable).

Thanks! I've owned this allroad for about 8 years so I'm well aware of it's quirks and have done many, many repairs. The latest was replacing the VC gaskets a few weeks ago so I can avoid the ever present burning smell.

Right now I have on some Toyo studdless snow tires that do great on gravel roads but are too soft for anything too rocky. They would get torn up pretty quick. I'm slowing acquiring the 16" spare wheels and put on some decent AT tires that are slightly bigger.
