Australian Flinders Ranges and desert

So we (my family and a friends family) spent two weeks of the winter traveling from Sydney west to the Flinders ranges in South Australia and then a loop through Cameron Corner, Bourke and back to Sydney. Here's a few pics, bear in mind this is the middle of winter, overnight temps got down to -5C but daytime hit the mid 20's on some days.

Out first day took us through some wineries (to please the wives) and then on to a caravan park in Dubbo, from here on we started to see some wild life, Kangaroos, Emu's, Wild goats, that sort of thing as the desert slowly crept up on us.

Our next stop was Broken Hill, a largish country mining town with lots of cool stuff to see, another stay for a couple of night in a caravan park while we explored and bought supplies.

The town was on the edge of the 'living desert' lots of old mines and things to see.

And a whole lot of nothing around it

From here we traveled just a few hundred KM's into the desert and had our first 100% off the grid camp at an old ruin, this place used to be a Hotel, with post office and residence when the mines were in full swing.

From here we went into the Flinders ranges, spent a week there so here's a few pics around the area.

The family that came with us borrowed my military trailer, it needed to be tough to cope with the corrugations.

From the Flinders we headed back into the desert via the Strezlecki track to the Cameron corner
