Bit more progress on the Sport's looks... bumpers and flares...

So the nose looked a bit heavy with the charcoal nose.

So when the weather was so nice this weekend, I pushed on to my next idea... no more charcoal. I instead went with satin black to match the wheels and made the nose white with black highlights...

I think they call the black and white look the storm trooper look, and I love it :)

Wanted that look for mine but it is white on silver, and I don't trust my spraying skills enough to be durable enough to not all flake off on the first branch I hit

You need to put a splash of VHT black on the exhaust tip at the back and it will be 100% spotless then . . . And now I've said that it will bug you every time you see it :victory:

Man your truck just keeps looking better and better! I think jamesW is right polish up that tailpipe and it will look spotless. You could even use black plastidip in an aerosol can for around $6.00
I gotta say though your truck in my opinion has the best transormation from being brought back from the dead!!!

Thanks you guys!

Poor truck really needed tlc in a bad way! 100% better , but alot left to go.

The tail pipe.... lol... I wanted to wash it first. Believe it or not the orange scrubs off. I just had not washed it yet in these pics. The pics of it washed are on the spouses phone... will post them soon! :) I plan to redo the exhaust with a shorter set up. I want the pipe to exit before the rear tire. Truck sits up high enough that the stock placement looks dumb.

The white paint was duplicolor Perfect match in a spray can... It's a GM color... lol. Guess that's what time and orange clay does to the white... lol :)

The black was duplicolor semi gloss black

Excellent testament to the major improvements that can be made with elbow grease and aerosol cans. The front end appearance is the best result of all your areas of effort. Nicely done!

Yeah... the stormtrooper theme was in the works from the get go.... :) Hense the avatar! Started with my Fiero and now has flowed to the Sport...

Durability... if you prep right and sand well before you paint, it will hold up well. But the branch is always going to win... :)

Honestly I'm not 100% happy with the nose. I was too rushed... I had planned to have Saturday and Sunday, but quickly half my Saturday was taken from me and Sunday was taken as well. Nothing like satrting at 1p on Saturday and going straight till 10AM Sunday. Yep the transformation took almost 24hours straight!

I will probably sand and redo it. I wanted the black lines crisper then they came out on the nose. I put on the white and then taped it to add the black. I knew the white was going to be more layers then the black, so I figured it was better to do black last. Plus black covers white better then white covers black... but... I should have done it in the reverse. The clear did not take kindly to taping. Now that I know I can actually get a decent result with the rattle can... I'm not as afraid to try again. A redo will in actuallity really help fill in all the pits and cracks anyway! I really needed to work more with the primer to fill them, but as I said. my time got stollen. :)

The plan now is to let it harden and then see what buffing it does to the clear first. See if it will fix some of the oopsies. IF not a good sanding down to the primer will actually help it.

thank you! I agree... It and the headlight restoration did the most to bring life back to this beast. The lift and tires didn't hurt either! :)

Some side by side action...

Here is where I started back late December and where it is now at the start of March... pretty crazy!
