diesel questions

the 91 pajero i just picked up has a diesel.

b4 that diesel goes into my 91 LS, i want to inframe it

where do u diesel-heads get parts?

offshore ? if so whom?
maybe some of our international members would be able to help, perhaps trades or???$

i will be wanting a new head likely as not. odo shows 233000KM

rods, mains, rings gaskets and seals.

im guessing this engine has a denso rotary pump?

any other details anyone might offer?

im guessing this engine is rated at 85 hp?

still in production somewhere in the world?

i just towed home today, and dark it was when i got to the shop. i have opened the hood one time . thus no deep inspection yet

Kiki pump, licensed from bosch.
85mph is screaming even with 4.63's, install the 4.88 or 5.29's from the Pajero and do 65MPH tops. Get a pyrometer.

i like this....

so parts should be available from kiki or bosch, likely the injectors too. looks like the hyundai diesel is the same engine, so parts for the block should be commonly available....

pyro; matter of course. especially if i fiddle with timing.

65 mph should net me well over 20 mpg. yes?

im keeping the 4.63's , i will have the 4.0 t case .

HOW TORQUEY ARE THESE OFF ROAD?

i see online a cottage industry for performance upgrades for the pajero diesel.

most of them standard diesel stuff, the major is the later roller rocker head.
careful timing and all components set to the nibbon,

boost pressure carefully regulated,
double the hp is not likely but at least 50% improvement, and retain reliability.

it seems there are a number of manual trans that will fit....hmmm

this is going to be fun. now to find a reliable importer of parts.

this ever happen to you?
im looking over this diesel i want to part out and use for my gen 1 LS which im trying to make over as " the baddest gen 1 on planet earth"

and i realize that but for the fender bender the little montee is pristine in condition. why am i gonna cut this up?
now i dont know which way to go.

anyone want this diesel shorty complete? just throwing this out, not sure i wanna unload but sure don't wanna part


also where is the sticky on posting pics? im getting ready to do lotsa wrenching ..

I did the roller rocker upgrade and a little extra wastegate preload, pretty good upgrade. I would get a pretty regular 25mpg overall, they don't do great on the highways here in AZ. Our speed limits are 65mph and 75mph.
