Dual batteries

My battery is in the same location you have the CD changer I believe. I don't think you can put a battery in there unless you start cutting the body and carpets. If you are going to be using the G for long trips I suggest you get rid of the back seat or at least part of it.

From here, http://www.extrem-motorsport.de/fahrzeugbezogen/mercedes/mercedes-g.html, 3/4 down. They have 460/461 & 463 on the page, so I'm not sure which engine bay this is from.

Another option is to use a fridge with integrated 12v battery system. I have an Accutemp AX56L. There are 2 12v batteries inside the case with battery monitoring and charging circuits. I have added 12v DIN outlets at 3 corners of the Hardigg case for additional plug ins. It is plugged into a 12v receptacle that is off with the ignition. So it automatically switches to battery power when parked.

I bought mine off a gun enthusiast website in AZ. Actually I traded a nice handgun for it.
I bought the green version, it was FEMA surplus, unused.
I have seen them for sale here and on Ebay for <$800

I have the same Accutemp fridge. I got it shipped to my door for $500 with new batteries. Only drawback is the size and weight. I'm in the process of adding 12 outlets to it as well. It's batteries are no substitute for a second starting battery tho.

I got interested in the AcuTemp AX56L after seeing photos of it in the Australian Military G300 6x6 photos. While it is a bit heavy for 1 person to move around, the fact that it serves both as a refrigerator, auxiliary battery box and power center makes it very versatile. In addition the mil spec Hardigg case is very robust and ties down easily. The cool thing is pulling it out of the G over by the fire and cooking table without it having to be plugged in and having a 12v charging center to boot. It can sit all day on its own running and keeping the steaks and beers cold.
