Expedition Rigs Encountered

In March of 2008, I traveled to Death Valley for the first time, and stumbled upon this vehicle of unknown origin parked near Badwater Basin. I'm glad I snapped a picture of it, because it's stuck with me ever since, a vehicle unlike any I had ever seen before, and still quite unlike any of the overland vehicles I've seen since.

Does anyone know what it is, or who it was (now 8+ years later)?

No idea who's it is, but that looks like a medium duty service truck (freightliner maybe). The front part of the bed has been modified for a sleeping area it looks like, and more boxes added to the lower part of the bed.

At Big Bend National Park in mid-April. The driver used to be an editor for an Australian 4x4 magazine. They have been on the road for 15 years.

Saw these guys camped outside the Art Museum of Estonia ("KuMu") early one morning, a while ago.
