What does the gearbox spacer give you? Why put it on?

On my FJ the light for the ABS brake sometime comes on when in 4LO. Try engaging the 4WD in and out and it should turn off eventually.

The tail lights look great, but I gotta be honest, I liked the original front Nissan grill better than the blacked out version. That’s just me though.

Gearbox spacers give the tail shaft a better, more straighten alignment to avoid stress. It's not 100% perfect, maybe longer rear arms should do the trick with a tailshaft spacer to make up for the length. This what happens when the shaft isn't rotating in the proper order:

So with a double cardan shaft it makes it perfect :)

That ABS blinking is actually Nissan's Active Brake Limited Slip (ABLS), it's helps with rock crawling balance, up/down hill, and stops spinning front tyre that has no grip to shift it to the other stuck one. So it's like a computed diff lock, and it's been there since 1997-1998 with modifications later on. Only engages when on L4 and with rear diff lock on.

About the original grill, that's because you've never seen more than 10,000 2005+ Y61's ;) It's a common car since decades, so any slight change makes you stand out. And I just love black since my old Y60 ;) It's a personal preference.

Warm greetings, Vince (y)

That all makes, sense. Learn something new every day. And you’re right about the grill, I bet your shorty looks like a damn gorilla barreling down the road in Oman.

Was at an accessory shop asking about the android screen that fits up like a factory style, then found this so-called dust/noise protection tape for only 3 OMR (~8$ USD) then said why not! Not sure about what to get first, the android system or the headlight projectors next ? And thought about painting that little NISSAN name in red then replacing the front logo with it? Going full-cosmetic now? And found that rear wing of a Super Safari model, but not for sale?. And the Jerrycan holder is waiting to be installed and loaded with the can!

Seems like it's taking too much time to receive the spare wheel spacer, nothing serious at the moment :) Having some good sweets and food.

Man, she looks so good. I can't stop saying it. I'd love to wheel alongside this shorty.

Thanks, but he's a man lol. Patrols have 2 balls (solid axles with big diffs), so they're males :ROFLMAO:

I've placed an order for Super Safari blacked headlights ;) Should look better with them on

Let's keep what I say next here in the Nissan section....

These have such a better suspension design than Land Cruisers. And man are those axles beefy!

Rocking truck man, I love it!

Cheers

Thanks Ian! Such car is being threatened by all the taxes and laws that made all 4x4's with solid axles to turn into soft crossovers, then later merge the crossovers with the "SUV" name! I'm not sure how much long would the Land Cruiser 70 (79) and the Patrol Y61 survive with their market being pushed. The weight of this small thing in looks is insane compared to much larger "SUV's", it weighs around 2364kg (5211 lbs) in stock form, and now it's more than 2500+kg. That's a weight expected from full-size, large modern SUV, not a 3-door 4x4. The wrangler on the other side is around 1720kg for the 3-door and 1945kg for the 5-door version! That's why I called it a boulder "Julmood" :)

Australians are making a great job with "functional" mods for the Patrol, but if this thing was in the US it should have lots of cosmos which it somehow lacks. Mine uses HG41 diffs (4.11 ratio) which are nicknamed "small diffs" here, the LWB manual uses HH43 "big diffs" along with the pickup with leaf springs and manual uses that which has a ratio of 4.375. Those things go straight from factory to army here :)

You can notice that it has a slightly bigger "sack" :) Not sure if it's stronger or just for the higher ratio (pinion) clearance.

5200lbs for a SWB in stock form!? That is crazy! That is how much an 80-series weighs.

Sweet looking army Patrols.

I been out of the Nissan game a little while but if I recal right, Nissan uses the number in axle designation to indicate ring gear size. So an H233 is a 233mm ring gear. I don't really know much of anything about the new axle coding.

Cheers

You should see some Y61's popping in Canada by now if they're interested in it, and there is a community in Facebook for US and Canada Patrol owners.

Yesterday's trip to Foshi, Sadah, Dhofar, Oman

Nearly rolled over on one tilted track, very lucky I made it home safe

All the photos and videos aren't in the danger area, where any slight drift off track can result into a disaster. I'm still a rookie for such driving. Shame the photos/videos aren't showing the core of crossing. Needing a gopro next, one guy had one if he puts in on Youtube I should put it here. My cam photos, whatsapp clips and cellphone pics mixed
