Keeping your vehicle cool

They sell those at lowes over by the chain section that has a swivel loop at one end and a clip at the other.. if they hold a dog on a dog-run the'll hold a tarp.
I've seen those referred to as snap hooks.

@Photobug - If you find that there's a lot of flapping & tugging at those anchor points, you may try adding a loop of heavy shock cord to the tarp or rack end to soak up the stress.

I'm sure you've all seen these, but the Land Rover safari roof option deserves a mention here.

That is basically the idea I was copying with my roof deck. It makes a major difference on interior temps. This was Mk1. Mk2 deleted the handholds and extended the nose closer to the sunroof. Mk3 is in the planning, hoping to used some UHDPE / Marine Star Board. And Mk2 has a folding solar panel in a locking frame, which makes it easy to remove and deploy the panel elsewhere.

eta here's Mk2 -

And I forgot to mention / add the window inserts with 12VDC computer fans that I've made.

I did the huge fan firsts, scavenged off an old PC case. Then decided I didn't like how it obscured the view, so went with a row of smaller fans for a shorter overall height.

height.

Mk3, I am still working on Mk1, you have put a lot of effort into getting this right. Looks good tell me about your window fans.

A lighter color on truck and camper/shell helps a lot. Tropical Land Rover Tropical Safari roof is the best solution. I painted the top part of my Jeep's black roof with Solar Flex roof paint (95% UV reflection). It mad a huge difference.

I believe that material may expand enough to cause problems.

Have you considered using a lighter colour? The roof rack rails appear to cover the heat shield enough that it won't be all that visible, and a lighter colour would be cooler.

'urban camouflage'. I've done almost all my odds with the intent of keeping a low profile. I really don't want it to stand out with a light colored roof.

My old thread on the window fan inserts -

Those four quiet fans move the full volume of the vehicle interior, every minute. I put them on a rheostat so they could be dialed down / up, be even more quiet and still move a lot of air.

Lots of material and how to details in the topic. Was almost 3yrs ago.

One other intended mod I still haven't done, but hope to accomplish this winter when I take everything out of the back of the Sub for bunch of re- and new wiring, is add a switched power feed that will let me engage and control speed of the rear AC squirrel cage fan, thus using the vehicle's built in fan and ducting to stir air around the rear platform / sleeping area.

/take THAT run-on sentence, English teachers!
