Let’s see your solar/fridge/slide out setup

I’m wanting to add slide out fridge and solar setup.

I have a 21 Ram 2500PW with a Roofnest condor Xl and OVS 270DS awning.

Currently using a yeti 75q cooler for weekend trips. Works ok for water and body armor/Gatorade but not so much for food. Right now we’re in the heat of travel baseball season so most weekends it’s 3-4 nights away from home.

What does your setup look like? I’m interested in installing flexible solar panels to RTT and a fridge/slide out setup mounted to my Decked drawer system.

I’ve read a lot on this forum and others and watched some “u-tube” videos but would like some actual, real-world users not ‘influencers’ opinion.

Thanks everyone for your time, knowledge and ideas!

I mounted an Alu-Cab fridge slide that tilts onto my decked drawer system:

The tilt function is essential for me in accessing the food, for one it doesn't require getting up on the tailgate and two when the rooftop tent is on the bed rack I don't have to scrunch opening and accessing the fridge.

I run a 12v NOCO plug extension and plug it into a Goal Zero Yeti 1000 Lithium. (Lithium batteries are very heat/cold sensitive so I keep in my cab.

I don't have any solar panels mounted to my tent or roof. So I used a solar blanket and a briefcase solar panel, two keep the Yeti charged when stopped.

I think a portable battery like the Goal Zero or the like with portable solar panels/blankets, would allow you to bring the fridge closer to you at the games, but it also allows for removing all the weight when not in use or to transfer to another vehicle and/or boat.

My 8 yo ARB 50 qt on a DFG alu locking slide out (great slide, only 15 lbs, but rugged). Its mounted to 8020 track (1/2” single side 10 series) direct bolted through the bed floor using 5/16 SS bolts and flange nuts with 3/4“ spacers IIRC. The spacers and the 8020 allow me to slide a 5’x12”, 1/2” Baltic Birch pull out counter underneath. Has held up really well to some severe, bouncy, rough, off camber trails.

I use an Acopower 105w portable solar rarely. My Battleborn is DCDC charged from the alternator.

doesn't get any more simple or boring as this but it works great. If I am going offroad I use cinch straps to lock it down.

We have a ZR2 diesel, cap & Cargo Glide 1000xl bedslide. I mount and strap down our ARB'S to it. Usually just 1 but sometimes both the 50 & 82 at. I just use the cargo glide as our fridge slide. It works great.

Below, I just switched out the HF 2000/4000 watt modified sine wave inverter (that has been in 4 trucks since 2000), to the HF pure sine wave inverter.

We went from a Power Wagon to the ZR2 diesel. If your fridge will be exposed to the elements, I highly recommend the ARB Element that is designed for that. We have the classic in 50 & 82. Love them.

Space is definitely at a premium with the ZR2 though but it works great for us and is nice to get 22 -28 mpg vs 6-10 of our G-56 Power Wagon.

Do you often travel with 4 passengers, 1 in front, 3 in the rear? If not, why waste space in the rear with the fridge there, when you can put more drawers and a kitchen? The LC100 has a 60/40 rear seats, so I removed the single seat and put the fridge there.

For the solar - I am on 33" tyres, the roof of the tent is already super high. I also prefer to be able to park in the shade and have a longer cable to move the solar under the sun. I drilled the hood and mount the solar there. It's attached with wing nuts underneath.
Flexible panels are 2-3x the cost and have terrible durability.

This is the power system behind the folded rear seat . The power board is attached to the rear of the drawers. 280Ah LiPoFe4 battery behind the fridge.IMG_5554.jpegIMG_5557.jpegIMG_5569.jpeg
