Let's see your GMT800s!

Awesome trucks so far guys! Definitely loving the pics.

A question to the owners that have to deal with salty and dirty roads: What are you doing about the rusting brake lines? My truck came to me cheap with the caveat that it needs a new ABS control module, and probably some new brake lines around that area since brake fluid is pissing out of one of the lines, and if I'm down there I might as well at least replace the long straights along the frame that have the most rust. Are you just replacing it with the same stuff, or is there a better solution?

GM makes a kit, coated lines, comes with all lines from the master, no hoses and no rear diff hard line. right around $100, i think the labour is around 4hr, or maybe 5.6 rings a bell. rock auto and ebay both have stainless lines for $150-200 or so.

I've seen them on Border Patrol Chevys. Might be worth looking at government auctions for Border Patrol vehicles also.

Hutchinson also has commercially available bead lock wheels. 8x6.5 bolt pattern, 8.5 inches wide, 4.5 inch backspacing.
Google your wheels for the best available price, available in Argent or Black.

lol placeholder. When I head back out to Lompoc in a couple weeks I'll take some coastal pose shot around Santa Barbara or Point Conception, just to perpetuate the 'GMT800 looking over the Pacific' meme.

eta Refugio. But no dramatic overlook.

Would love to hear more about this!

As you may or may not know the 03 - 06 GMT-800's have problems with stepper motors on the gauges. It's such a common issue that there a number of places that will rebuild your cluster. You just take it out (pop off the trim ring on the dashboard, remove 4 screws and one electrical connector and it's out) and ship it to them. A week later you get it back with all new stepper motors and (if you pay extra), LED backlighting and a trans temp gauge.

I had mine done by these guys:

but there are others out there. For a fully pimped out 'sclade cluster you can go to

Thats awesome - thanks! I was unaware this was a such a common problem. The cluster on mine 05 Z71 with 205,000 miles fades in and out intermittently, but its not just the cluster. It happens at night and also happens to all the interior lights that come on at night (such as the lights on the window switches and door locks and A/C controls).

That sounds like it may be a bad ground.
