Looking for a good mechanic in Orange County

Hey everyone, just picked up an 05 Gen 3 with just over 200k on it. For the most part it’s in great condition but there are a few things which I need to get taken care of, such as a cracked exhaust manifold, leaking valve cover gasket and general bushing changes expected on an older vehicle. I’m looking to throw on a lift and 4.90 gears soon as well.

Are there any shops in Orange County, Ca that anyone would recommend to help out with some of the work?

Thanks in advance!

Congratulations on your purchase

Is in El monte, the owner Ryan has a Montero and is legit and tells you the truth on your ride.

Tell him Tim sent you, I own a black Montero and took mine in for a lift

I second Miyaki.

It's worth the drive up there to have Ryan take care of it. I am in OC as well but I drive up to Ryan for any work I'm not willing to do myself.

I had the timing belt and exhaust manifold done by Crady Automotive on my old Gen2. They are just north of the 91 near the 55 in Anahiem/Yorba Linda area. They are NOT Montero specialists, but fair.

Another shop that has done me well over the years is the Swedish Asian. I think they changed their name recently...yes, now called TAS (The Auto Service). Same family owned business, just a bit more inclusive of all brands. They are in Santa Ana and have a service porter to shuttle you back to work.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I’ll check out Miyaki.

I also have an 09 WRX which needs some work down and found Rally Sport Engineering in Costa Mesa. They now only advertise being Subaru specialists but a quick search of their name on google brings up their old website which shows that they used to specialize in Mitsubishi’s as well.

When I asked the owner, Raul, he said they used to but since Mitsubishi as a brand in the US isn’t really as popular they don’t advertise anymore.

Long story short, after picking up my WRX I dropped off the Montero. It’s been there all week and has had one of the exhaust manifolds replaced along with replacing some very leaky valve cover gasket, spark plugs and boots. I will hopefully be picking it up tomorrow ready to pass smog :)

I can also recommend Orange County Off-Road and Auto Repair in Huntington Beach - I used to bring our two Monteros there and Pete (the owner) was great. :)
