My wheel base is so long...

I wanted to start a thread about what you CAN DO with your long wheel base expedition vehicles.
Let's keep it to over 130 inches.
Although I feel limited to easier trails, we still manage to get around.
Bonus points for pictures!

This is my 2016 Frontier, 139.9 inches.


You know what happens next if you have a long wheel base.

Lulz. My Suburban's wheelbase is 'only' 130".

/and designing and fabricating a metal skidplate / 2nd skin for my 32gal plastic fuel tank is near the top of next year's list.

Generally, the longer wheelbase means that whatever one axle is going over, the other end still has traction. In sand, snow, mud, it's an advantage.

Dial out as much castor as you can stand to make them turn. Since they are all ready long they track good enough to be able to back some off. As little tow in as you can get by with helps as well but if your wanting a long trail rig then go toe out. Skip the fancy lights on front and go with stought bumpers to give ability to push the brush and banks a little. That maxes out the trail space. I love seeing monster rigs on the trails.

Responses are great. I love the part about multi point turns, sometimes it takes me a while just to get out of the grocery store spots.
Does Bertha scrape her steps?
Stumpalump, great idea about using the front bumper as a plow, now I just need to order a bumper.
Keep them coming, winter is coming in New England, and this teacher is up to his neck in grading, after this weekend, I won't see the trails 'till school ends.

I've got the same Frontier (CC long-bed) and it can be a beast to turn around. If it's not a 6 lane road there's no making a U-turn.

However off-road I've found as long as it doesn't high-center then it's going to make it fine. That's my #1 limitation off-road easily -- luckily I'm not looking to rock-crawl. I do worry sometimes, though. I wouldn't give up a 6' bed. 6' is already pretty pathetic. 5' might as well not be a truck!

Agree on the bed, I had a 5 foot and it really can't hold anything. I ride in a group, they call me Nisslimo with my wheel base.
