Np241c with sye vs np205 swap

I have a 1990 suburban 350tbi 700r4 dana 60 front 14b ff rear and 37in tires. Used for general trails and expo travel. Trying to decide if i should sye and rebuild the factory np241c or try and swap in a np205. Also if i do np205 swap how hard is it ? What do i need and how much money? Also i do not have a welder. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks mike

I would stick with the 241 for this application. If rock crawling is your thing, then a 205 or better yet one of the ORD upgraded 205's would be in order but for general offroad use the 241 will serve you well.

241 will actually handle higher torque than a 205. The iron case of the 205 bounces off rocks better though.
Also, don't bottom your front drive-shaft slip yoke with a 241. It will break the case.

Nope not into rock crawling which is good because the burb is long. Glad to hear the 241 should work. Il like that i already have it and its factory so it fits and works right. Like 205 but would need to buy it and everything involved. Also would need to figure out speedo and mounting ect... this is a trail and travel rig.
