Our little M416

Hey all. Long time listener, first time caller

We finally broke down and bought an M416 a couple of weekends ago. Disassembly started immediately. It’s a 1965 and has zero rust!

We’ve wire wheeled and sanded most of it and rebuilt the tongue so far. In keeping with the M416 spirit, everything will be bolt together/serviceable.

It’s going to swap over to a Dexter 6x5.5 to match the 4Runner and 285/70-17 BFGs. All original parts went to another M416 local build. Nothing was scrapped.

That is a nice condition trailer to start from. I haven't seen an un-restored quarter ton without a Bubba tailgate job for sale in a long time.

definitely a great starting block. Most have a ton of rust that is conveniently hidden with way too much paint by the military LOL. Gonna keep an eye on this one " )

We’ve stripped all the paint. We haven’t found it yet. All that’s left to strip is the Home Depot bedliner in the floor of the bed. We are hopeful!!!

Couple of updates ... we picked up a Front Runner tent and canopy that was only slept in once this weekend for $500 for both pieces. SCORE!!!

And we went about mounting the new suspension components and V sanded for 6 hours on the Home Depot bedliner.

We were pretty filthy!!! But enjoyed our frozen custard ?

Actually worked on that today. Laid out the tonneau cover and drilled some 2” holes in the frame for the rear jacks to mount through.

The tonneau will be as you can see. The 14ga against the wall will be the top. The 1x2” .120 wall will bolt on top of the tonneau as cross bars essentially sitting on the angle which rests on the trailer top rail.

Another productive weekend!!! Tonneau cover frame is built, rear leveling jack mounts are on, lighting is run and rear receiver is on ...

Couldn’t sleep! Axle, wheels, tires, fenders ...

Still have to trim the fenders later today and bolt them on. But you get the idea.

Another productive day ... mounted the tent, shocks, shackles and a few running lights.

Most importantly, little woman got in the tent!
