Radio shopping...CB vs 2M vs 440MHz vs FRS vs...

All your frequency are belong to us :D.

Sooo...now I'm learning Morse. It's easier than I thought, depending on how you choose to learn it. I'm using this:

http://morsecode.scphillips.com/jtranslator.html

And what I've found is throw in a couple words with letters that are easy or that I already know....most people know "SOS", so there's two letters to start, plus T is - and E is . which are easy to add.

So I start with TOTE. (at 10wpm, it's actually easier imho than 5)

Once I can hear the E and the T, I add a letter...R is .-. like an engine rrRRRrrevving, now I can hear

OTTER ROTE TORE

Then add a GEEEee --. or maybe ENNNn -. which is easier since it's only two signals

NOTE RENT ROTTEN

or GROTTO GORGE

And then start stacking them together in the translator like this, adding one letter different at a time

TOOT OTTO TOTE TEET ROTE TORE OTTER RENT ROTTEN TORRENT GROTTO GORGE

And so on :D. That's six letters, and I haven't even used S ... yet.

Of course, I lose the long line above after the first few words, but then that's why it's practice. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog, yet.

A good one to hear the spacing between letters is ESSENCE . ... ... . -. -.-. .
