My first project has just landed and thought you guys would like to see the starter pics. Hoping to go pick her up this week. Soft top with second row bench and third row jumps which is really rare. Its currently Camo but will be getting new top, redone interior, fresh paint, ome suspension, and some other goodies. Last pic is my old 110 :(

Rover.jpgVery nice, I made the leap from Land Rovers to a G wagen as well. I love Rovers, but...it was time for a change for a while.

Wide open to any suspension and bumper recommendations. Have some ideas but I'm not committed on anything yet and would love the opinions of the experts.

Hey Noodlesswe, what differences do you see in cruising speed with the turbo on your 240d? Or is it mostly for acceleration?

DO you mind sharing details on your turbo set up?

I am considering a 240 GD or 250 GD. I would prefer a 250 GD Wolf but they seem to be pricey. A long wheel base convertible 240 with turbo may work.

Are there any websites dedicated to military g wags? Maybe we start one.

240's are less expensive.

Specs on 240 and 250 engines.

240 GD — OM616 2.4 L Diesel I4, 72 PS (53 kW) at 4,400 rpm, 101 lb·ft (137 N·m/2,400 rpm)
250 GD — OM602 2.5 L Diesel I5, 84 hp (62 kW), 113 lb·ft (154 N·m/2,800 rpm)

What about a transplanted 300D turbo diesel?

300D Turbo
MY 1981–1985 OM617.952 125 hp (93 kW) @ 4350 181 lb·ft (245 N·m) @ 2400 (USA-Canada, Japan only)

53 more hp and 80 more lb feet of torque.
