I really like that Masterpull and found a good deal on it with an aluminum fairlead. Might just jump on that if they can get it in yellow for me.

Any other thoughts?

I bought mine here. https://peakempire.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=198

They have great prices but when it didn't show up after two weeks or so and I never got a confirmation email for the order I thoght maybe it wasn't going to come. I sent them an email t find out what was going on but they didn't reply. However, the line came and it had a big red hook on it, which I really like. A friend of mine ordered from them and had the exact same experience right down to the big red hook and lack of reply to his email.

In short, great product, great prices, missing service. I'll leave the decision up to you.

I go with masterpull, the brand the military uses.

Just a reminder that none of the 4WD accessory suppliers are rope manufacturers. They all buy their ropes from just a few dozen international suppliers, and they, in turn, manufacture under licence to two or three patent-holders. The manufacturers try to differentiate their products by gving them cool names (like Amsteel Blue, or Plasma), putting specialised coatings on them, or casting spells over them. The 4WD resellers do the same thing by giving them new, even cooler names (like Superline XD), and splicing hooks onto them, etc.

I always call and ask who the manufacturer of the rope is, and then I check on the manufacturer's site to get the actual specifications. That way, I can be sure I am comparing like with like, before I make a decision based on price, service, extras, convenience, etc. If the reseller won't publicise or tell me who makes the actual rope, they fall off the short list.

Pete,
I ordered my synthetic line from Rockstomper . I got the 80’ of 5/16” for my M8000 winch. The price was great and I love the line. No issues to report so far but I’ve only had 2 significant pulls on the line.

Out of curiosity, have you chosen a fairlead yet? Since you have an ARB bumper, you could go with the new delrin roller fairlead from Viking Off-Road. Scott has on of these so he may be able to provide his thoughts on it.

Because I have a TJM T-17 front bumper and did not want the fairlead to stick out that far, I got mine from Sky-Manufacturing but I think that there is room for improvement on their design. Read here for my comments. Scott had also tried one of these composite fairleads earlier on his truck with better luck FourTreks . I have also heard some reports of these composite fairleads distorting under heavy winching but I have not experienced this yet.

Can you tell I like to spend other people’s money! :wings:

Cheers ,

I got the synthetic roller replacements, rope, line protector, and hook for $320 from www.barnes4wd.com. Great guy to deal with.
