Take away the billions in subsidies that Tesla has gotten and none of that would be possible.

Now that you don't get a tax credit for buying a Tesla...their sales have dropped.

Yeah, so lucky Just stumbled into PayPal and then Tesla. Rockets, solar companies, tunneling machines, Fat bank account, all from luck. He is like those people that keep winning the lottery over and over again, you know the ones, or do you?

Oh they are heavily subsidized, about 5 billion worth last I saw, a drop,in the bucket compared to other corporate welfare programs. Here is the rub though. He didn’t invent those subsidies, they were offered by the government. He went were the subsidies were offered, anyone could apply for them, except for Pilat.

Of course we’re going to have to wait quite a bit to see what the final verdict is as to whether the CyberTruck is a brilliant success or a horrific flop...but there are a couple of things going in Tesla’s favor here (which might help counter the hemorrhaging of dollars) that some commentators in the other Tesla threads may be overlooking.

They are 1. Prognosticators say that the trucks will likely be build in the US plant... to avoid the “chicken tax” tariffs, importantly lowering costs*, and also because the US is the largest market for pickup trucks sales; and 2. Moving into the truck market is an indication of corporate awareness that pickup sales are what hugely drive, and make up, the profitability of the US vehicle manufacturers.

So, if Tesla can better manage cost containment and get the pre-sold trucks rolling off the assembly lines quickly enough, Musk”s decision to finally jump into the pickup market could be the saving grace for Tesla.

*Dealing effectively with cost containment issues has been an enormous problem for Tesla. So it’s likely that only by getting a better grip on a sustainable fix in this department will the company have any chance of long term success.
