Great post. Thanks. I will be referring to a lot of this come time for my framing and build. The worm gear screw jack system seems the most bulletproof. Ideally it could also be manually operated in the event of motor failure... I like this a lot.

Question is: How do you crank all 4 jacks at the same time?

Very interesting. I have been thinking about this too and I think syncing all 4 jacks is unnecessary. If you couple them in front to back pairs, ala trailer landing gear, it should do the trick. The only variance would be on the north south axis but it should prevent binding.

It's definately necessary. I'm designing the lift system with 1:50 worm gears. With 3nm and that gear ratio, any async move would completely mangle the roof
