Vintage Powermate PM500 Generator Help

So, I mentioned in another thread I scored a vintage Powermate PM500 generator for 25.00.

its a little guy at 12 lbs that puts out 400W which is fine for my travels with my Suburban. The little Robin engine runs great, but the previous owner said it stopped giving power after he lost the screw-in throttle light, which from what I have read from the limited information out there, the light indicates you need to adjust the throttle to your power load. I had some time today to look more into fixing this thing and far as I can tell, the socket for the throttle light is just a light; it should still function without it. Probing around with a multimeter, I get no voltage AC or DC on any connections on the panel anywhere, so I am leaning towards the inverted circuits maybe have gone bad.

Anyone have any ideas before I decide to put in an nice GM alternator?

Hmm...that might be a possibility....it could be just wired in a way that I don't reconize...
