Well, I thought I would float this and see if anyone bites. I owned a 1990 Mitsu Montero LWB for a couple of years prior to buying this BMW. I miss it. The BMW is a beautiful car, has immaculate service records, and runs fast on the highway. The problem is that I do like to take my dog places and I refuse to put her in the uncracked/unripped spotless interior. I also do not enjoy driving my BMW downtown in Houston, with all of the potholes and the stop and go traffic. It does look very nice, but I really just want an expedition rig. I am looking for a 1994-2000 Mitsubishi Montero (preferably an SR) in fairly good condition. I reckon the car is worth $3800-$4200 (I paid $4200 in June), so would like to do a straight up trade for something of equal value or would be willing to add some cash if the Montero is above that range. Here is the car:
1986 BMW 535i - 167,000 miles - e28 - 5spd
Interior - in exceptional shape, leather is all original, no cracks or tears, still very supple. The dash is perfect with no cracks. The windows have fresh tint. CD with Ipod aftermarket deck.
Exterior - paint is in very good shape, clearcoat is slightly faded (was told it is fixable). The Cosmobalu metallic hides the blemishes well. There are a few small dings/pings from doors. They may be pullable - no paint damage. The passenger side rear door has a small dent (no paint damage).
Tires/Wheels - e34 wheels with <10 miles on yokohama tires
Mechanical - as excellent as a car this old can be. The previous owner (owned it for 4 years - original owner from 1985), did over $4,000 in maintenance, including new exhaust, tune-up, suspension, brakes.
The car has every receipt, including every oil and service from the past 23 years. If no interest in trade, but in a purchase instead, I could probably open the offers at $3900.
