Thanks, logistically it takes a lot to set it all up. 7 veterinarians on staff, many volunteers, all teams are issued SPOT trackers.
Since its almost all in a dead zone, all the manned check points, and start and finish lines, etc all use ham radios and operators for communication.
The 200 mile teams were using 12 dogs, and have a mandated rest area, after the first 100ish miles. At olocot checkpoint, where they have vet teams, dog handlers, and lots of wall tents w/ wood stoves. Once the race starts everything is monitored 24/7.
That checkpoint can only be reached by Sled, no roads.
And the team's, and their support systems are impressive as well. The trucks, trailers, etc just for the care of the dogs.
And it's incredibly remote, they do a loop on the breaks of Hells Canyon. Rough country,
The small towns, have amazing community support.
This is one of the Iditarod qualifiers, and has been growing every year. The mushers say this race is actually toucher than the Iditarod, as it has more elevation gain and loss in less miles.

Next year I'd like to take more pictures of the rigs they use,
A lot of custom trucks, and dog box' s
I have a contract in Bend in a few weeks,
And got out with the moto yesterday, to run into town. I have been missing Patagonia as of late and figured a wet and windy day was a great commemorate.

I spent the last three weeks in disaster relief work, for a flood that went through a multitude of towns, two states, 4 counties and a reservation.
I got home yesterday, and will do a write up soon,
Also going back to Alaska, probably May 15- end of Aug.

A few pics of the flooding, I spent the time on site with the truck and camper. Even though the FOB was only 40 Mike's away, made a huge difference to have my own place to stay in, Courdel came with me, and gets the back seat when the camper is on.
A dog at base, just helps people so much with stress.
I served as the field medic, amd safety for the entire operation. Checking for structural stability prior to my team going in.
I got home yesterday, and will do a write up soon,

Was not home long, have been sequestered into covid 19 contracts.
And did a week on seattle prior.
Two weeks in Salt Lake City, right now. I had never been outside the airport here. It's really quite pretty.

I'll be in SLC all month,
Woke up to my first ever earthquake, I thought either someone had ran a truck into the hotel, or there had been a explosion.
Lamps fell of table, windows rattling in their frames,car alarms going off, folks hollering. I figured out it was an earthquake when I looked at my phone and it had an earthquake alarm on it.
I just stayed in bed ( working night's)
Got aftershocks that were still a 4.6, the main one being 5.6 and only lasted 20 seconds or so. So did not sleep great that day.
Living in a hotel is intersting, when you don't have a kitchen, or even a microwave. And most restaurants are closed.
I have a few open hours in the afternoons prior to shift I had been trying to explore the area a little.
Most things are shut down now, so probably not much more sight seeing.

Continuing to work covid 19 contracts,
Was going to head to Alaska, to get that season started.
However the tribal councel of Egegik voted to shut its borders until the 28th of may. They parked a dozer on the runway, no one in or out.
Extended now in Greenville South Carolina, this will be home for at least two weeks. Airports were empty. My flight from Atlanta to here, only had 12 people on am MD90, including the two pilots and crew.
I'll post pics of the airports,

It snowed my last week on SLC,
Due to a NDA, I can't say who the client is, however that little (63k$) side by side was my office. We still have people at that site, but it was time for me to get another one started.
On a side note, pretty cool, not worth the money if it was my wallet. Even had a generator and rv ac/heat pump on it.

Thank you!! I'll do better at getting pictures of the almost abandoned places.
It's a different feeling walking through them like that, especially airports.
Doing my best to keep myself and others safe out here. Missing home and my dog quite a bit.
That side by side, was pretty cool, it's also pretty slow, heavy, amd has a horrible turning radius. For the price, personally I would of gone a different route and saved a lot money.

Before Salt Lake Completley shut down, I visited Temple Square, regardless of your belief system it is impressive.
The last pictures while the trumpet is still in the hands, of the statue on top. The earth quake knocked it down a few days after I took these pictures. The construction is to make it all more quake resistant.
I was able to see this as well, as many aren't, almost Void of humans.

Parking was easy to find at least,
It did not take long to find a routine, and a few places were still doing carry out meals. Which was quite helpful for us.
