Hi everyone, a Tepui customer had his Autana roof top tent stolen right off his truck while he and his wife were out climbing in western North Carolina. Please keep your eyes open for this and post up if you have any information to its whereabouts.
It is about 4 years old but still in decent condition. The base is covered in a bunch of stickers, most are from different breweries.
.
Any help would be appreciated. You can post info here or please call Tepui at 800-301-9874 if you have any information.
Thank you!

Adam, will do. I live near Boone, NC so will keep an eye out. I changed the mounts on my Autana. I did it for more even support but hearing this I am glad I went with what I did.20160609_155924_resized.jpg20160610_123156_resized.jpg20160610_124514_resized.jpg20160610_124528_resized.jpg

Crap !!! I say find the tent , find the thief or thiefs . Put tent back on your rig. Put thiefs in the nearest water . Only after beating them with a baseball bat one at a time . Then throwing them in water to blow final bubbles !
If you need instructions watch Casino ...take out corn field replace with water just to make it your own!

Wow...

Man, I've heard of stealing lights, winch hooks and winches but rooftop tents?! Good grief. Hope one of em threw out his back while they were helping themselves to it. Sorry for the owner.

Have been scouring CL, etc for the past few months for RTT's, trailers etc trying to decide which way I want to go with my new build. I'm registered on at least 15+ sites in the region so I will keep an eye out for sure.

On a personal note this is what scares the crap out of me about RTT's and trailers and living in North Carolina. The meth head problem is extremely severe in the state, they will steal anything that is or isn't tied down so security of my overlanding gear choice has been as important as the quality of the brands that I purchase.

Loosing my trailer is such a big worry. We had a family friend loose a 30ft heavily loaded trailer last yr. Poof gone never found.
So our little trailer are no contest for trailer theives.

I never leave mine out its either stashed in the garage or hidden behind my side yard fence.

I try not to advertise my gear out front doing things like leaving it in the driveway during the week while working on it etc. Far too many home service peeps cruising by that may tell some one or get an idea they would like my rig. LOL

When were camping I lock the hitch, and usually have bicycles locked to a wheel, that and its not going anywere in its tent setup mode. LOL

But yes this stuff is easy to run with when packed up and sitting out.

Ordering anti-theft hardware for my new (to me) Maggi that I just picked-up yesterday.

Hope the thief is caught and the RTT is returned to it's owner.

Sad but you hear a lot of stuff being stolen from crag parking in the south east. Might post up on mountain project also.

I always felt that the size and scope of a RTT made it an anti-theft device, I was wrong. I shall keep an eye peeled here on the peninsula.

I'd totally lock down an RTT better on a roof rack. My Tepui is bolted to my trailer's lid so I'd probably lose my whole trailer.

In fact I've been thinking about getting a GPS tracker for my trailer. Amazon has several, one that has a month to month $25 service. It's suppose to email or text if it begins to move, which a tracker could also be put inside the RTT assuming one has cell service. I'm most worried about overnight theft at a motel parking lot...
