The beauty of working a shop that does audio installs, theres always spares lying around.

Took an inventory of items I got for the 2 house batteries:

Lighted rocker switch - To control the solenoid position
2x 80amp PAC solenoid - to run them in parallel
4GA power cable
2x 150amp circuit breakers for the feed line
2x 1 year old PC1200's

For the low low price of $40.

Working on a battery box in solidworks now.

Tent came in today too. Went with a smittybilt because of the excellent deal I got on it, I couldn't pass on it for the deal I received.

Getting close, had to run home tonight so didnt have a chance to finish. Light tabs are there, cargo anchors(in case i take off the tent), ratchet strap mounts, main structure is burned in, gussets are halfway burned in.

In the last pic i did the vertical, my coworker did the horizontal, im using him as a second pair of hands in exchange for some MIG experience.

Im no MIG welder by any means, but on big stuff like this ill squirt wire to get it done faster.

Are you sure you put enough welds there?

I'm ocd about my weld spacing. I know if I don't have time to make the bead lengths and spacing between them identical, I'd rather just blast the whole thing.

Especially on thick stuff like this where I don't really have to worry about it warping

Mocked up the tent, fits on the rack pretty damn well.

The hardware that it comes with sucks, but its smittybilt so I expected them to cut corners somewhere, I cant complain if this is my only issue with a tent I paid $500 for. I'm going to tab the rack for the mounting bolts that come down off the crossbars instead. If you look closely, I put a 20" single row under the tent, why? Last time I went camping my girlfriend woke me up at 3am and wouldnt go outside to pee because it was dark outside.

Nice build and my rig is a Chevy Avalanche - which translates to every single thing must be fabbed; which makes me completely jealous of your work environment and skillset. I'm in the IE as well. From one of your earlier posts in this thread, notice you drive a Dodge and race a Chevy. I'm just the opposite. Pic of my rig and race car below.

Busy today but I managed to get a little done. The rack is 100% burned in and ready to be cleaned and painted.

I got one of these ************ kc cyclone lights to put above the tailgate area for when I'm cooking in low light or need to pull out a piece of gear. $18, and oh so easy to mount.

I water jet cut a piece of plate to use as a light tab for it, welded it on and called it good.

Smittybilts mounting method is...universal. I don't do universal. They expect you to use a flat plate, and clamp around the rack and let the bolts hang below whatever you're clamped to. That wasn't gonna fly with me.

Water jet some 3/4" aluminum into straps that fit tight around my tubing. The bolts will be cut down so that its all tucked up nice and tight.

My clamp mocked up.

Going to finish the rack and install on Saturday, and will give the tent a test run that night hopefully.

And with that the rack is 100% done, and ready for paint. Hoping to be able to sleep in the tent tomorrow night.

how bad was the wind drag with the tent mounted up there?

I haven't got a clue. That's the Thing about driving a diesel with 1k+ torque, you don't ever really feel "drag". I hook up my 9k trailer and it hardly feels it lol.

But the truck was still cruising along down the freeway at 22mpg like it usually does sooo...

Thats what I figured. I have the 2500 6.7 too. I was worried about wind drag, then realized it would be insignificant, if any reduction in my mileage.
